Tips for Diet Management from PKU FamiliesEveryone has their own style of doing things and their own unique way of managing the same diet. Here are tips from many families of children with ages ranging from infants to young adults. They come from all parts of the U.S. The ideas presented here have helped them live with the diet more comfortably. While some of their tips may not fit your particular needs or your style, or be right for your child, we hope many of the tips will work well for you also, either as presented or modified slightly to suit you better. We hope that by taking advantage of their experiences, you will find coping with the diet an easier challenge. Please talk to your PKU clinic if you have any questions about how the various ideas apply to your situation. These tips are not to be taken as "recommendations". We do not give advice or recommendations for individuals whose unique medical and nutritional and other needs must be considered. In the sections of tips, there are many references to a few books that everyone should be aware of. Follow the link on the book title to access the web order form for each book:
Other tips can be found in Low Protein Cookery for PKU. Many great ideas are also exchanged daily on our PKU Listserv group.
